I am a bad mother. I am sure of it. I adore my kids but today the letter from Sophia’s pre-school came and it revealed a fatal flaw that makes it worse than daycare or an au pair or a nanny. Pre-school is on the local school system calendar and they take a break from December 18 through January 2. Daycares take only 2 days off. This 2 weeks seems like a very long time. And it was not just Christmas break either. They take spring break and teacher work days and everything. To top it off, of course, summers are off. I swear, after memories of this summer with no help, I broke into a sweat.
So I may call on other options. I may find a daycare that will do half days and work around holidays and through the summer. I want some time to type! I cannot type with Sophia here. I accidentally showed her clips of Elmo on the Sesame Street website and now she wants to be on the computer all the time. Since the computer is my job, I need some alone time. I take my hat off to all the moms who spend all of their time with their beautiful kids. My daughter is a social butterfly who would much rather be with 20 2 year olds than with me, watching me nurse, for hours every day. I get where she is coming from. Often times I reminisce about when I worked at a bank with lots of grown ups to talk to or evenings with bunch of gals my age. I get it!
I will find a happy play place for Sophia to spend her mornings away from mommy and with tons of friends. I will also find a place that can figure out how to make Miles eat all this milk that I pump from a bottle so we can hire a babysitter and have a night out.
Bad mom….I hope not. I love them to death…I just want a little me time!

I am the Ringmaster of this circus. I have 3 small children who don't know what that means so I just say "Boss" and they get that. I am a mom who loves to write, build things, make things and love on my kids and my hubs. I am also in the midst of a love affair with social media. Always busy, usually laughing and never without words. Thus, Mommy Words.
