My Dreamboat Husband

June 27, 2009

I call him this because today, while I dreamed, he took both kids out of the house for a quick walk at 7 a.m. and miraculously on our amazing block found a play date at 7:15 a.m.  I received a phone call saying I could stay in bed as long as I wanted because the kids were playing.  When I finally, and at a VERY leisurely pace, dragged my tush out of bed at almost 9, I felt like a new woman.  I could not ever want anything more than an extra 2 HOURS in the morning with no one asking for anything.

This morning it only got better.  I got dressed and walked myself down the street with diapers and wipes in hand expecting my kids to be starving and Miles to be covered in poop from his morning business.  Instead, when I got to my neighbor’s house, I was greeted by 2 kids who had been COOKED FOR AND FED BT THESE TWO HUSBANDS.  They had bacon and eggs and biscuits and there was no poop in sight.  I almost cried.  They actually told me I could go home.  Before I had kids I would have thought I would run like Sea biscuit back to a magazine and some quiet but I am now a mom.

As a mom, the sight of our 2 kids and our neighbor’s 2 kids, all in their jammies while their daddies played with them for hours and left the mommies alone, made me long to spend some time with them.  So we threw the bike helmets on the older kids, put the younger ones in the wagon and continued the walk my DREAMBOAT HUSBAND started at 7 a.m.  It was a perfect morning.

I’m so glad you had a day like this, and hope you have a few more in the next several years. It’s good that you are able to recognize how great it is when it’s happening and feel the joy. Way to go brother Ross and yay for Brittany. Congrats to the both of you, by the way, for the exciting news, and happy belated anniversary.
Love,
Mary

Oh, he IS a dreamboat! My husband has flashes of thoughtfulness, and they are so appreciated when they do occur. Just got to work on getting them to happen a tad more often!
