A Very Short Funny Story

July 2, 2009

Forgive me Internet, I am very sick and so I must be brief.  It took forever to figure out how to get Google Friend Connect on a WordPress blog.  That is my only excuse.  Please readers, join my site and tell me what it even does….I don’t know if it works or not or if it is a feed or just a way to see who is friends with who.  Anyway, it is up there and it is purple so I am pretty darn impressed if I do say so myself.  WordPress is great but it is hard to figure out all this design stuff.  Ergo, my site is white with no awesome banner or anything fancy.  I am working on it.  I promise.

So here is the laugh.

I was at the OB/GYN and and older couple signed in before me for the woman’s ultrasound.    I am guessing that at some advanced age and maybe even around menopause they start looking at your stuff to make sure it looks good.  I would have asked but I thought the ultrasound tech might think me gauche for doing so.  I am I guess. Why am I thinking about what she is doing with the ya ya of an older woman.  I digress.  While I was waiting to be be seen the door to the waiting room started to open and the woman was trying to get through with her walker.  She called out to her husband.  He tried to get up but I was just faster as I had stood up to help as soon as I saw the walker.  It was only because of my close proximity to this couple that I heard this exchange.

Elderly Man:  So Hon, how’d it look?

Elderly Woman:  (giggling and with a smirk) She said it was beautiful and perfect.

Elderly Man:  Well I could have told you that!

Elderly man then comes damn close to grabbing his wife’s bum right there in the waiting room.  He opts to rest his arm just above the tush,  kisses her head and they walk out.

I did not know whether to laugh hysterically at the obvious slightly gross image this exchange created and the wonderful gumption of this old man or to bawl at how beautiful love and humour and maybe even lust is to see in a couple of that age.  I think we would all give a lot to have that.  Of course, since I am preggers I laughed and cried.

Cheers to a life full of love.  It is possible.
