Before I Had Kids: Football

by Brittany on November 22, 2009

in Before I Had Kids, Blog Games, Get to Know Me

Brittany and Ross at Panthers

Before I had kids, I loved football.  That is because we used to go to a lot of games.  Almost every week they played.  And get good seats.  And get pretty drunk.  Please see evidence above.  Panthers game.  Club Seats.  Lots of Beer.  Raining and we don’t care.  Clearly childless and carefree.

This was all possible for 2 reasons.  First, because we could spend the money that now goes to keeping our kids alive and healthy and happy on kick ass ridiculous things like expensive football seats and $5 beers.  Second, because we did not have to come home or wake up and take care of any small children who needed us to be sober and highly functioning adults.

Those cute little creatures are quite a buzzkill huh?

By the way, my wonderful husband still goes to games.  I am the babysitter.  He does not get all tipsy at them though because he knows that when he comes home it is GAME ON – pre-school style!

Do you have a Before I had Kids story?  I would love to hear it!  This will be a regular new weekly post of mine and I expect that the list is so long it could last through the next year or so!  Please play along with the Before I Had Kids game.  It’s okay – we know you love them – we all just want to know what you loved to get yourself into before they were tops on your agenda!  Make sure to leave a link so we can all check it out!  Uh-oh – I may have to get myself a McLinky thing!

There are so many drunken nights and hungover mornings. Now if we go out and I only have 2 or 3 drinks I kick myself. Before I lost count of drinks! My favorite was lazy weeekends. We had a big screen tv in the living room and a very small tv in the bedroom. So even though we wanted to lay in bed all weekend and watch tv you had to squint your eyes to see the tv. So we would get out the ole air mattress and put in smack dab in the middle of the living. We would lay there all day and watch movies or whatever reruns were on. Then we would either order delivery or my husband would go to get take out. AHHHH relaxation!!!! Now my idea of relaxation is the little one actually sleeping in til 7:30 and naptimes!!

Oh God, it only takes a few times before you learn that being “hungover with kids” is incredibly, hideously, bad.

Before I had kids, I used to have sex. :)

That sis another week. Just wondering what image to use for Sex. We have never been quite that kinky…well – I don’t think so at least. But then again, we used to get drunk so who knows! :)

My story is no different than yours…I’m the baby sitter while my husband goes out to do the things we used to do. Games, bars, etc. Totally ok with it, because when he’s out, and the girls are asleep, I’m alone. I would pay a lot of money for a few hours alone!

I am okay with it – sometimes. The kids are not asleep all the time and sometimes I would like to spend some of that time when they are with him – the love of my life you know? Sometimes it hurts my feelings when he assumes it won;t matter if he goes to a game or a show because the kids are sleeping. Um hello – I would rather be with him!

Oh man, mine was road trips…randomly packing a bag and hoping in the car for a weekend. Now it seems like it takes a month to plan a trip in the car.

Lovin’ this post. You are hilarious. I have too many BIHK stories to count. Really. I thought I was a salsa dancer diva extraordinaire BIHK. BIHK I used to sleep in. BIHK I used to be able to eat food when it was still hot. BIHK I wore real clothes and not sweat pants and stained t-shirts every day. But also BIHK my life wasn’t filled with the amazing love it is filled with now. Thanks for the great post. I’m visiting you from MBC. Here is my bloggie too:

Yup, before the kids there was LOTS of alcohol involved. I mean, that’s kinda how I got the first kid. LOL. And actually, when my son was 14 months old, I turned 30 and my husband threw me a birthday bash at Whiskey Sky at Green Valley Ranch and I got soooo sick from all the tequila shots I did that I told him that I wanted to go ahead and get pregnant again (as we’d been planning anyway) because I wanted a reason to NEVER drink again (or at least while preggo of course). I was pregant a few weeks later with my second born.

Love this post, Brittany. The photo is priceless too. You guys look like you’re having a great time. That’s not to say that you can’t have fun with kids too. As they grow, it’s amazing how much my life is starting to resemble the life I had before kids. We used to fill our weekends with outings, friends, parties, movies, shopping, day trips. What’s different now is that we’re filling our weekends with things surrounding the kids. Case in point this past weekend: Disneyland Friday, soccer games and parties (end of season) on Saturday, birthday dinner with Pop Pop on Saturday, birthday party on Sunday at a cool indoor playground. When bedtime comes, no struggling, getting water, or jumping up over and over. They’re just as exhausted as we are. So cool.

Before kids there was football but I didn’t care…I just went shopping. Now there are kids, money is budgeted and they want to know why Mom doesn’t know the rules. SOoooooo I’m learning the rules of football by reading a book called “A Sportscaster’s Guide to Watching Football” by author Mark Oristano. It’s a pretty entertaining and informative book. I’m really learning a lot.
