Mommy Math

May 25, 2010

The number of hours I have been away from Violet since she was born.

The number of hours I have spent with Violet since she was born.

Need I say more?  This is literally a full time job.  And I have 2 other kids. At the current $7.25 minimum wage this would be worth $16,530.  Annually I would be paid $49, 590 per year.  However, this is no minimum wage job.  It takes skill to multi task like a mom.  Chef, Chauffeur, Teacher, Caretaker, Amateur Nurse, Entertainer, Event Planner, Stylist and giver of tons of hugs and kisses.  If I worked like this for any actual company I would be making some serious dough.   Sadly, I make no actual money for this high ranking position.

It’s a good thing I’m happy being paid in tiny laughs, cuddles, coos and smiles.

Give me your math!  Misery Overwhelming joy loves company!

Wow! I’m impressed… I don’t think I could do the math on that one either! I’m guessing I’ve been away from my daughter about the same amount of time; it’s only been a handful of times, and for about 2-3 (a maximum of 4) hours at a time. She was born on May 14, 2009– maybe you can do the math? Heh.

You’ve got a very cute blog.

4 is the number of nights I have been away in 3.5 years. Crazy that some people get to take alone vacations every year! Maybe their In Laws like their kids more than mine do ;)

Yo are one devoted employee – I can’t imagine committing that many hours to a job!

The truly crazy part is how many hours of that was actually spent boobing it with her (breastfeeding) while doing something else. CRAZY!

*And I obviously mean you, not yo.

Though I suppose yo could somewhat work, though with a different message.

Ya’ll would shoot me if I told you how many days I’ve been able to have since Jackson was born. Hubby and I went on a week long vacay to Mexico when he was 18 months, and then later Hubs sent me to Hawaii for a week!

London is a different story. I have no idea how many “hours” I’ve spent away, but she’s never been left overnight. She’s lived 11,688 hours so far, so I’ll subtract 20 or so for random date nights…

Giving me a grand total of 11, 668 hours. Over 16 months. That’s 729 hours a month, or 182 hours per week. Ummmm….that’s technically 26 hours a day. I KNEW I was working overtime!!! ;)

lucky girl! we got one vaca in 2009 before we conceived Violet and were away for 4 night in the caymans. It was wonderful! I should do the math on Sophia and Miles too but man would it be scary!

um did you say hubs sent just you??? I am so jealous!

MIL had a week long conference in Hawaii. So I went with her (I’m one of the lucky ones who likes my MIL!). She was in conferences all day, and I layed out on the beach/by the pool, read 13 books, and counted every glorious seconds. 8 days!
Ahhh…memories. I have NO idea when vacation will ever happen again. Who the heck will take my THREE kids for a week? You? ;)

Brittany, I must say you are great in calculations. You are currently doing such a great job and being a devoted employee, so you are receiving such a great wage in form of laughs and cuddles.

I am not a mother yet but waiting to have one soon and then i will share my calculations with you.

I’m not willing to do that math… too scary :-) But probably an eye-opener many could use.

I suck at math! Let’s see the Boy is going to be 16 months in a week and I can count the hours I have been away from him on my two hands…
