Shutterfly Announcement Celebration

I have been married for almost 8 years and in each of those, I have had a big annoucnement.  You know, something worthy of designing an adorable card and mailing it to people outside your immediate family.  I love aweseome cards.  I got to send out Save the Dates for my wedding.  The whole idea of saving a date for our big day still seems crazy and wonmderful.  I love stationery and paper so you can see how a wedding was just my cup of tea.  Save the dates, multiple invitations, programs…I got to make them all!

Then we bought our first real house and became lucky morttgage holders with millions of other Americans.  Of course this got an annoucnement,  An offocial we’ve moved was sent.

After we had out house, I got to announce my pregnancy and the births of my three beautiful children.

What could be better than a birth annoucment to show your precious lumps of love to the world?  I adore baby cards.  They are full of joy and hope and pride.  They are full of promise.

How could anyone not love these tiny little people?

My Baby Announcements

Lately I realize I have no big annoucment this year.  All my kids are little.  We have years until any real school announcement.  We are planning on staying in our house.  As much as I would LOVE to renew our vows and have another wedding ceremony, the hubs thinks I am crazy.  Not to want to marry him again, but to go through the planning again.  I might have been a little looney the first time around.

We all know that I want one more baby, but as my mom says, it takes two to tango.  Both people have to be on board for a baby.  That means no more precious baby cards.

So what’s a girl with a hankering for pretty notes to do?

I am considering a smaller circulation edition of Sophia’s pre-school graduation.  I know for a fact that she would love to announce the loss of her first tooth when it happens.  I could tell the family of Miles’ successful potty training.  I just love marking occasions with something beautiful and a little official.   My poor mother…she may start to get a lot of announcements.  Don’t worry mom, no gifts are expected.

I also think I could create my own mini annoucments for the kids and all their milestones and create a photo book each year that contains all of them.  I think the kids and their grandparents would LOVE this.  I could create as many awesome annoucnements as I wanted and only annoy family with them one time each year!

As I eagerly await our next big news, I will watch for all yours.  What will you announce this year?  Do you get as excited as I do for pretty ways to spread the news?  Share your announcement with me so I can live vicariously through you.  Bring on the weddings and babies!

I love stationery too. Have to have get my fix in Kikki K regularly. I love getting announcement letters, but lately as kids are growing older and lives are getting busier, these have slowed right down. My husband and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and I thought to make a card for that, but so many of our friends are divorced and so it seems a little funny. Maybe just for family, like you, right?

Yes make something for the anniversary! I am thinking maybe a save the date for our 10 th anniversary and have a big party. For some reason making a card makes me get off my tush and celebrate! Happy anniversary!

I have to admit that we don’t send out announcements, although I do know several people who use Shuterfly and like their products. But you know, with three children, there doesn’t have to be “special” occasions to send an announcement. Any sort of accomplishment can be an occasion to let everyone know about it. It’s all about being creative.

I agree, creativity is the key. You can send news by mail or by email and the point is to keep those memories that mean so much to us. Shutterfly is awesome but you can make your own and they can be just as awesome!

I agree!!! I no longer have announcements either but I do look forward to going a Christmas card each year. I take a ton of pictures anyway but the two months before Christmas with every click I am hoping for the perfect picture, which never happens. Just last week I was going through all the old photos leading up to christmas couldn’t help but make a photo book from my Christmas card rejects. My husband doesn’t go through all my photos on the computer, just the ones I tell him to look at so the book will be about 200 photos he’s never seen…can’t wait to get it! Ordered an extra copy for my mom for mothers day too! Not the same a getting to do an announcement but was still a fun project!!

Our family is spread all over the country, so I send a photo card for every holiday {to a much smaller list than our Christmas card list}. It works out to be about 1 card per month, so everyone gets to see The Boy and what he’s been up to. And I enjoy doing it too! It’s not quite an announcement, but it’s close!

Best,

How can I forget…I made adorable Halloween cards too for the smaller list. I guess I missed the boat on Easter and Valentine’s Day, but there’s always Fourth of July…right? :)

I will be sending out announcements in June as my first child is born! It’s a girl! :) I am so excited and can’t wait! And I absolutely LOVE your idea of creating the mini announcements and putting them in a photo book! I live away from my parents and in-laws, so I know they would love this also! Sounds like a great Christmas present to me!! haha :) I hope you don’t mind if I steal your idea! :)

Brittany, I’m sooooo with you. This year I hope to announce something totally huge and yet undetermined. Your guess is as good as mine but I’m hopeful.

I totally agree with you. Sometimes I think I’m the sole reason Shutterfly is able to stay in existence. I love Christmas cards, birthday party invites, baptism invites, birth announcements…this year I even made my own {grand}mother’s day cards. It doesn’t help that I am also obsessed with taking my girls’ pictures. :)
