Halloween the Milky Way {Giveaway}

Love chocolate?  Love Caramel?  This Halloween Milky Way is bringing out the Simply Caramel Bar in the fun size for trick or treaters or just your stash.  Believe me, a little bite of these Milky Ways goes a long way towards a smile on your face.

Milky Way is More than Great Chocolate

There’s more great news when it comes to Milky Way bars.  People have been enjoying Milky Way bars since 1923, when the Company put chocolate malted milk in a candy bar.  Yum! Mars announced in September 2011 that they are collaborating with Fairtrade International as they move towards a goal of purchasing only Fairtrade certified cocoa by 2020.  This is no small commitment and for a company of this size, will be a huge step towards creating and supporting fair trade farms around the world that can support the giant demand for cocoa.  As you may or may not know, there has been intense criticism of the labor practices used on cocoa farms.  Specifically, the use of inappropriate child labor on cocoa farms is abhorrent and needs to be addressed across the industry.  I was so encouraged to see a company of this size making a huge commitment and openly talking about the issue.  Mars in working not just with Fair Trade International but also the International Cocoa Initiative and the World Cocoa Foundation.  It takes time for total change, but I can appreciate a company that sends so much time focused on understanding their social impacts.

I want to make sure that I find cool things for my readers and that there are cool companies behind these products.  I was not asked to write about the company, only to give you a wonderful goody bag of Milky Way treats.  I was moved to write about the company because I support companies that make a long term commitment and stated goal to make things better around the world.
